David Fincher Explores the Mind of the Killer in MINDHUNTER [Trailer]

By Marina Antunes [08.01.17]

"Are criminals born or are they formed?"

It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that David Fincher is still mining this territory. I mean, the man did bring us Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, Gone Girl and "House of Cards," a roster chalk-full of bonafide psychopaths in one way or another.

His latest foray into the darkest depths of the human psyche is "Mindhunter," which is based on "Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit," a book by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker which chronicles Douglas' time working as an FBI profiler. Charlize Theron is co-producing the series with Fincher who is also directing a handful of episodes.

The series stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv in her first notable performance since "Fringe" went off the air a few years ago.

Fincher's obsession with psychopaths has delivered some seriously great, and often uncomfortable, entertainment and I expect "Mindhunter" will continue in the tradition.

We'll soon find out. "Mindhunter" premieres on Netflix October 13.
