THEY REMAIN Looks Quietly Menacing [Trailer]

By Marina Antunes [02.26.18]

Imagine for a moment that the suffering and misery of humanity adversely affects nature and the animal kingdom directly. I'm not talking global warming or the side effects of human growth and expansion but instead, a direct correlation between human violence and strange animal behavior. This is the question being explored by Keith and Jessica in They Remain.

This is Philip Gelatt's sophomore effort as writer/director but this time around, he has chosen to adapt this fascinating tale from Laird Barron's short story "--30--."

William Jackson Harper (Patterson) and Rebecca Henderson ("Manhunt: Unabomber") play the scientists with a complicated romantic past, who are tasked with investigating unnatural animal behavior on the site of a Manson family-like compound.

It's a fascinating concept and the trailer for They Remain is a menacing affair with quiet moments and a fantastic score which builds tension while nothing overtly nefarious takes place on screen. This looks like an excellent, low-key thriller.

They Remain opens in NY March 2 and in LA on March 9 with a wider release to follow.
