SUSPIRIA Remake Shows Reverence for Argento's Masterwork [Trailer]

By Christopher Webster [06.04.18]

The first trailer for the remake of Dario Argento's horror masterwork, Suspiria has premiered. We've been hearing about this remake for about 10 years now so it's crazy to think it's finally here. What is also crazy, is how much I like the look of this.

This is definitely not some glossy modern remake. The first trailer for director Luca Guadagnino's remake feels like a period Giallo in tone and style. My ultimate feeling is that I don't think we NEED a remake of Suspiria at least this one understands its origins.

Synopsis:
A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe's artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

Suspiria arrives in theaters November 2, 2018.

Starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Jessica Harper and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Recommended Release: Suspiria

I honestly don't recall much of the original off the top of my flat head, but I do recognize the work that went into this remake in matching beautifully the framing, colors, textures and lighting of films from that era.
