Nightstream Horror Festival Launches Next Week [Lineup]

By Marina Antunes [10.02.20]

It's been an interesting year for festivals and while things were shaky in the early part of the year, the fall festival run has actually been pretty great with fairly wide access to Fantasia, TIFF, FantasticFest and now, perhaps the most exciting of them all, for genre fans at least, is Nightstream.

Running October 8 to 11 and available across the US, Nightstream brings together five film festivals from across the country, namely Boston Underground Film Festival, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, North Bend Film Festival, The Overlook Film Festival, and Popcorn Frights Film Festival to deliver a spectacular line-up including 40+ feature films, 160+ short films, and over 20 panels and events.

Notable titles include the World Premiere of Aneesh Chaganty's Run which stars Sarah Paulson as the over-protective mother of her wheel-chair bound daughter in this Hitchcockian  thriller, the North American premiere of French director Quentin Dupieux's latest mind bender Mandibles, Lawrence Michael Levine's excellent comedic thriller Black Bear, the US premiere of Anthony Scott Burns' Fantasia break-out Come True, the latest from Pablo Larrain EMA, and Noah Hutton's excellent scifi drama Lapsis (review) among many others.

Also included in this year's line-up is a wide range of special presentations including a conversation with director Nia DaCosta (Candyman), a 20th anniversary celebration of American Psycho with director Mary Harron, and Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead and Issa Lopez talking about their early movies.

It's a great looking line-up with a lot crammed into four days of programming. Full details and pass details at the festival website.
