Zack Snyder's REBEL MOON Giving Us Major Seven Samurai Vibes

Zack Snyder's epic scifi adventure film Rebel Moon has started filming and the director of 300 and Army of the Dead shared the first image of Djimon Hounsou on Twitter. The film, which started as a Star Wars pitch, has since become Snyder's original property and has a definite Seven Samurai vibe.


Synopsis:
A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.


Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Sofia Boutella, Rupert Friend, Stuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang star.

Michiel Huisman (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Cary Elwes (Saw), Corey Stoll (“The Strain”), and Alfonso Herrera (“The Exorcist”) most recently joined the ensemble cast.

“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Zack Snyder recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
